THE Christmas party season is expected to stir up a 'festive frenzy' at three Worcestershire pubs run by award-winning publicans as customers get into the mood for fun.

The Rose and Crown in Severn Stoke, The King's Head in Sidbury in Worcester and The Cock and Magpie in Bewdley, all run by the same management team of entrepreneurs, are expecting a bumper party season, starting this weekend.

Andrew Goodhall said he and Mathew Collins were running Christmas party weekend across all three of their pubs in Worcestershire - the addition of the Cock and Magpie to their family of pubs just three weeks ago was already an early present for the team.

Despite the high river levels, the Rose and Crown in Severn Stoke, which has been prone to flooding, has remained dry, another festive blessing for the business.

Mr Goodall, landlord of the Rose and Crown, said: "We are anticipating a festive frenzy across our three pubs in Worcestershire.

"We are getting ready for an electrifying Christmas party weekend across our trio of pubs in picturesque Worcestershire.

"We can feel the buzz in the air, and we're gearing up for an unforgettable celebration filled with merriment, joy, and an abundance of holiday cheer.

"We're predicting a weekend that's not just merry but also bustling with activity. From the moment the festivities kick off, we expect our pubs to be abuzz with the sounds of laughter, clinking glasses, and the hum of celebration echoing through each venue.

"The excitement is palpable, and we can't wait to welcome you to a weekend overflowing with special events, live entertainment, and a festive ambience that will make our pubs the go-to destination for holiday revelry."

The Rose and Crown was crowned the greatest British pub in the Marston's awards in September. This placed it firmly on the throne after it came out on top amongst over 1,550 Marston's pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

The award is seen by Mr Goodall as a reflection of the quality of the beers, service, and classic food but also the resilience and adaptability of the team.

There are even marks, conserved in the pub's door frame, which show the levels the waters reached, with 1947 being the worst year with a close second coming in 2007.

The pub also flooded in 2021 and 2022 but they just managed to keep the waters at bay in January 2023 (although the pub did have to close for five days).

Resin floors and a dampproof membrane have been installed at the grade II listed building with a plastic upstand to make the pub as flood resistant as possible. Tiles are used instead of carpets.

In a measure of the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the pub's directors, they have not only had to adapt to flooding but the Covid-19 pandemic.
