AN enchanting Christmas festival cast a magic spell over Malvern and turned the town into a captivating corner of Narnia.

The Great Malvern Christmas Festival returned to the town on Saturday featuring a spellbinding mix of festive treats to enthral the crowds and overwhelm the senses.

Aslan and the Witch from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe formed part of a dazzling parade which celebrated the town's strong connection to the Chronicles of Narnia.

Highlights included Artisan Arts and Food Market by Boffy Markets; the Christmas Light Switch On with Malvern Theatres Pantomime Stars and Lantern Parade; a Christmas Grotto and Storytelling at Great Malvern Library; the BBC Hereford and Worcester stage on Belle Vue Island and seasonal festivities and refreshments in Great Malvern Priory.

This year the festival was Narnia-themed to celebrate the 125th birthday of C. S. Lewis, who went to school in Malvern and took inspiration from the gas lamps.

The historic gas lamps in Great Malvern underwent their annual refurbishment ready to celebrate the milestone.
