A PROLIFIC shoplifter has received a suspended jail sentence.

Natalie Cull, of Madresfield Village, Madresfield, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

The 29-year-old was caught by police earlier this week and was soon swiftly charged with ten counts of shoplifting.

She appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday (14 November).

The thefts took place between September and November of this year.

Inspector Dave Wise, who leads the safer neighbourhood team for Malvern, said: “Cull was arrested earlier this week when a police community support officer on patrol spotted her and was assisted by colleagues to detain her.

"She was swiftly charged and appeared in court yesterday.

“This case demonstrates our continued commitment to tackling shoplifting.

"Our approach is a long-term one which focuses on problem-solving and pursuing solutions which prevent or reduce further offending, such as criminal behaviour orders.

“We continue to work closely with retailers and would encourage them to continue reporting all shoplifting offences and to supply evidence such as CCTV as quickly as possible so that we can take prompt action.”
