WE have compiled a list of famous authors and illustrators that will be attending The Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children this weekend.

The event started on Tuesday, October 24 at venues across Great Malvern, celebrating stories, with professional storytellers, children’s authors, illustrators, puppet companies, musicians, and theatre. 

The last two days (Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29), are full of events and big names.

Here are some of the people who will be attending:

Francesca Simon 

Francesca Simon has written over 60 books for children of all ages and is universally known for the popular Horrid Henry series.

On Saturday, at 10.15am, she will be introducing her third instalment of the new series, Two Terrible Vikings: Feast with the King, at the Festival Marquee on The Priory Grounds.

Lydia Monks

Lydia Monks is an award-winning author and illustrator, known for her illustrations in the best-selling What the Ladybird Heard books.

She will be at the Festival Marquee on The Priory Grounds at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Hannah Gold

Hannah Gold is the author of The Last Bear – winner of both the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and The Blue Peter Book Award.

She will be talking about her books at The Coach House Theatre on Saturday, at 1pm.

Nicola Davies and Petr Horácek 

Nicola Davies, a zoologist and writer, and Petr Horáček, a designer, illustrator and painter, will be showcasing live paintings and performances from their new collection of pictures and poems.

They will be at The Festival Marquee on The Priory Grounds on Saturday, October 28.

Paul Linnet

Paul Linnet is one-half of the SUPERTATO series and will be hosting games and activities based on the books.

This will be at the Festival Marquee on The Priory Grounds, at 12.30pm on Sunday.

Alasdair Beckett-King

Alasdair Beckett-King is a popular comedian, who has appeared on Mock the Week, performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has written for BBC radio.

He will be talking about his Montgomery BonBon book series at The Festival Marquee on The Priory Grounds on Sunday, October 29.

Alice Roberts

Alice Roberts is an anthropologist, author and broadcaster, and will be hosting a family event, about her first novel for children, Wolf Road.

The event will be at The Festival Marquee on The Priory Grounds at 4pm on Sunday.
