Rupert Everett will star as the lead in John Mortimer's autobiographical play, A Voyage Round My Father, which will visit Malvern Theatre next week.

The decorated actor will share the stage with Julian Wadham in a production directed by the former National Theatre Artistic Director, Richard Eyre.

Star of screen and stage Everett, a Golden Globe nominee for his roles in My Best Friend's Wedding and An Ideal Husband, will take on the character of a son living in the shadow of an eccentric barrister father.

As the son wrestles with yearning for his father's recognition, audiences will be introduced to a world of hilarious characters and relatable family dynamics.

The play is being brought to life by Robert Fox, Jonathan Church Theatre Productions and Theatre Royal Bath Productions.

John Mortimer was a novelist, playwright and a barrister in his own right. He was well known for his political dramas, and was the creator of Rumpole of The Bailey.

Bringing some additional star power to the line-up, Downton Abbey and The English Patient star Wadham also joins the cast, having previously shared the stage with Everett in the original West End production of Another Country.

The star-studded talent is not just featuring on the stage either, as Mr Eyre is joined by Olivier and Tony Award winners including designer Bob Crowley and lighting designer Hugh Vanstone on the creative team.

The production will be visiting Malvern Theatre from Tuesday, October 31, through to Saturday, November 4, allowing stage fans plenty of opportunity to catch the show.
