The town council is looking for feedback from the public as part of a bid for better community engagement.

Malvern Town Council has recently approved a strategy for developing its community engagement.

The council now wants to explore this by consulting community groups and other organisations and agencies, including the district and county councils.

Malvern mayor Clive Hoooper said “Our new community engagement strategy explains our aims and objectives, how we currently deliver those, for what we have responsibility, and what information we currently provide.

“We want to know whether people think we have got this right, whether there are things we should not be doing, whether there are things we should be doing which we are not, and whether there are things we are doing that we could do better.”

With this in mind, letters are being sent to a range of community groups and organisations.

Cllr Hooper said: “If community engagement is working, there should be evidence that the council identifies local needs and views that then lead to constructive council action with positive outcomes for the community.”

He said community engagement should be at the heart of determining council priorities, and that by working with these groups and organisations, including the district and county councils, it should be possible to provide a more effective service to the community.

The council is seeking responses to the open letter by the end of this September, so that a report can be submitted to the council at its November meeting, outling a possible action plan.

Malvern Town Council has recently submitted plans to build new council offices in Victoria Park.

The building, which would be situated on the site of the old pavilion, would include a cafe and community meeting spaces as well as acting as the council’s new headquarters.

The council is currently based in Belle Vue Terrace in Great Malvern.
