Malvern artists are amongst those taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios - the county’s largest free annual art event, running August 19-28.

Artists and makers will be welcoming the public into their studios, giving behind the scenes access into how they create their art.

There is a diverse range of artwork on show including painting, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, photography, textiles and woodworking.

This year the event has more studios than ever to visit - 97 venues will showcase 128 artists including 27 artists in Malvern.

All of the artists are excited to open their doors, to meet and chat with visitors about their art and how it’s made. All studios are free to visit.

Richard Nicholls of Worcestershire Open Studios said the event would give the public an excellent opportunity to see the talent on their doorstep, to meet the artists and find out more about their art.

“Artists will show how they work, the tools and materials they use and answer any questions,” he said.

“The artists’ work will be on display with the chance to buy original art. Many will have cards, prints, and gifts for sale too.”

Angie Jordan is one of the artists from Malvern taking part. Angie is a printmaker, who mainly works using lino but with a developing interest in collagraphy.

“My work is a response to the places and wildlife that inspires me,” she said.

“I take a subject and enjoy the process of turning it into a bold image for printing. I hope my work connects with people evoking feelings and memories or simply makes them smile.

“I’m taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios as I enjoy sharing my take on printmaking and introducing people to the medium. As well as viewing my work visitors will be able to ink up and print their own bookmark from a pre-cut lino block.”

Worcestershire Open Studios is also a great opportunity to explore our beautiful county and enjoy an inspirational day out.

“Following the success of last year’s longer event, this year’s will again be open over 10 days,” said Richard Nicholls from Worcestershire Open Studios.

“This gives everyone more opportunity to see the artists taking part.”
