A LARGE horse was rescued by firefighters after it found itself wedged in a ditch.

Firefighters from Upton-upon-Severn and Bromyard rescued the horse trapped in a ditch on Pershore Road in Earls Croome.

Two crews had to cut away vegetation and make the scene safe for an animal rescue team to release the trapped animal.

The horse was then led to safety by fire service personnel.

There were no casualties, and no other emergency services attended.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two HWFR crews – one each from Upton Upon Severn and Bromyard – and the animal rescue team from Bromyard were called to the rescue of a large animal in Pershore Road, Earls Croome at 6.44pm on July 24.

"A horse with a trap was stuck in a ditch.

"Crews cut away vegetation and made the scene safe for the animal rescue team who released the trap from the horse, which was then led to safety by fire service personnel.

"There were no casualties, and no other emergency services attended.

"The incident was marked as closed 7.33pm."
