Sanna Hussain, prosecuting, said during a police search of Tolley's bedroom at his home in Mercia Way, Kempsey, police discovered the cannabis in a drawer.

The prosecutor highlighted that the 18-year-old had two previous drug offences on his criminal record and had been given a conditional discharge for both.

Sam Lamsdale, defending, said as a young man Tolley had started smoking cannabis to help him relax.

But she said Tolley had been working with recovery service Cranston to get the habit under control.

Michelle Edwards, chairman of the magistrates bench, fined Tolley £80.

Magistrates also fined him a further £80 for breaching his conditional discharges, and ordered him to pay £32 victim surcharge.

Tolley said he would pay the total, £272, in full in 28 days.

Tolley was told the attempted GBH was an indicatable only matter meaning the magistrates court had to send it up to the higher court.

Tolley, who left court with his hoodie up, was told to attend Worcester Crown Court on August 15 when he may enter a plea.

Tolley was given conditional bail which states he must not contact the alleged victim either directly or indirectly.

The defendant was warned, if he breached his bail, he could be arrested and remanded into custody ahead of the hearing.
