MALVERN Pride is set to return this month.

Pride flags are already flying throughout the town ahead of the free event, which will take place in Priory Park on Saturday, July 29.

The fun gets underway at 12pm, with entertainment, food stalls and drink stands open until 6pm.

Malvern Pride committee member and town councillor Nick Houghton said: “We are grateful to local businesses and councils for sponsoring the event, which allows us to keep the event a free-to-attend event.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Malvern Pride.

“More information can be found by following us on Social Media or visiting malvernpride.org.”

Both Malvern Hills District Council and Malvern Town Council have given their backing to the event.

The town council is once again flying Pride flags around the town prior to the event - and has extended the area for flag flying to Malvern Link and Barnards Green.

Companies sponsoring Malvern Pride this year include Qinetiq, Malvern Panalytical, Friar Street Insurance Consultants, John Goodwin, Malvern World Travel, Will Thomas Coaching & Therapy and Worcestershire Ambassadors.

Malvern Pride merchandise including T-shirts, hoodies, hats and raffle tickets are available from malvernpride.org.

Organisers say the sale of the items helps to keep the event free.

Hundreds turned out to last year’s Malvern Pride as it returned to the town following cancelled events in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic.

Cllr Houghton said at the time: “I am very pleased the community has come out in support of this wonderful event.

“It is an event for the LGBT+ community but it's also a wonderful family event. We are trying to be as inclusive as possible, this is for all.”

Worcestershire Pride took place in Worcester last weekend, with a parade making its way through the city centre led by deputy mayor Mel Allcott and MP Robin Walker.

The fun continued with live music at Copenhagen Street car park before the official afterparty at The Flag in Lowesmoor.
