A date has been set for the opening of Great Malvern’s Alturo Lounge.

West Country-based bar group Loungers plc says the venue will open in Bellevue Terrace on Wednesday, July 5.

The company says it has made a lot of changes to the former Prezzo building.

“Heavily patterned wallpapers, tiling and stripped wooden floors now feature alongside oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, eclectic artwork and statement wall and pendant lighting, creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from,” a spokesperson said.

“A real home-from-home, Alturo Lounge will cater for all tastes throughout the day with a varied and innovative all-day menu.

“Whether it’s a coffee with friends, a long lazy brunch with family or a relaxed dinner and drinks, Alturo Lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind in good company.

“The all-day menu will feature everything from tapas and salads to burgers and buttermilk fried chicken, with vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet well catered for with their very own menus.

“Particular attention will be paid to families with a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and pads on offer. A full menu, high chairs and baby-changing facilities are also available for Little Loungers.”

Loungers, which also runs Cosy Club in Worcester, previously said a million pounds would be invested in transforming the building and that around 30 jobs would be created.

Gemma Irwin, community manager at Loungers, said: “We are delighted to be opening Alturo Lounge in Malvern.

“Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to Alturo Lounge.”

Harriett Baldwin, the MP for West Worcestershire, has also welcomed the bar.

She said: “It’s great news to see more brands choosing to locate their businesses in Malvern and I welcome the plans to open up a new Alturo Lounge in Great Malvern.”
