A new care home in Malvern presented a school with a “buddy bench” which was won by the children in a competition they ran this year.

Elgar Court Care Home invited local schools to think up names for the three communities in their home.

The lucky winners were Malvern Parish School and their School Council coming up with the winning names;

• Ground floor – Peachfield Community

• 1st Floor - Foley Community

• 2nd Floor – Beacon Community

The children asked for a donation towards a new bench for the playground and Elgar Court were happy to help.

Becky Hughes, the teacher who led this activity with the school council, said: “The children got really involved in the Elgar Court naming activity, and took advice from some of the local grown-ups to get their inspiration.

“It was part of their mission this year to get a new bench, and we are over the moon as the old one was really old.”

Andrew, a pupil from school council, said: “Sometimes if you don’t have anybody to play with, you can sit here and someone will come up to you and ask you to play.”

Sarah Cadwallader, general manager at Elgar Court, said: “We are all winners here! Not only have the children come up with perfectly suited names for our home’s three communities, but we are really looking forward to the initiatives we will be planning with our residents and school children over the next year.”

Elgar Court is the new luxury care home opening this summer in Malvern and will be welcoming their first residents in August 2023.
