Argos says it has no plans to close its Malvern store after a 'computer glitch' led to speculation on the store's future.

The retailer has also denied there being any technical issues affecting online stock checks.

A post in a Malvern Facebook group questioned whether the store, at Malvern Retail Park, was closing down because of an apparent lack of stock.

The customer reported that when they put a Malvern postcode into the Argos website, they were directed to other stores including Bromsgrove.

Other group members said they had encountered the same problem.

Some said the website showed items as being out of stock yet they were able to buy them on a trip to the store.

A few commenters reassured members of Malvern UK Noticeboard, which has more than 20,000 members, that Argos in Malvern isn’t closing.

One even provided details that may explain the issues some people have been having.

“[They are] just in the middle of catalogue changeover so funnelling out the old stock to filter in the summer products,” they said.

“There is an issue with the website where it thinks Bewdley is the closest store to the Malvern postcode. They’re in the process of fixing it.”

A spokesperson for Argos confirmed there were no plans to close the store, adding that there were no tech issues either.
