A Malvern café owner has served her last coffee.

Alison Pearson, 59, has hung up her apron after her final day at Poolbrook Kitchen and Coffee shop.

She will now hand the keys over to a new owner, Andrew Oliver, who will be serving customers from next week.

Speaking at the end of her last day in charge, Mrs Pearson said: “I have lots of mixed feelings about leaving the cafe.

“Having set it up from scratch six years ago, when I wasn’t sure if it would work in the location it is in, I’m very proud that it has become such a part of the community.

“I will miss all our lovely customers but hope to see them either when I’m catching a quick coffee as a customer at the cafe or at one of the markets when I’m selling my bread and cakes.”

Mrs Pearson opened the café with her son, 25-year-old Jake Pearson, in 2017.

Now, she is looking to turn her attention to her true passion, baking, and her catering business, Malvern Buffets.

She will continue to provide the café with sweet treats and will be a regular at local markets.

“I’m looking forward to continuing with my business catering and doing some voluntary work for Oxfam at a couple of festivals over the summer,” she added.

“I will miss it greatly (the café) but I need to move on and do other things, I’m not getting any younger.”

Mrs Pearson has assured regulars of the café that it is in safe hands with Mr Oliver.

She said: “It’s going to be very different for me but we have got a lovely young, local, man who is going to be taking over.

“The café is absolutely in safe hands, I’ve got no worries about it.

“He’s really enthusiastic and I wish him all the best, I’m sure he’ll make a great success of it.”

Poolbrook Kitchen will be closed for a few days during the changeover, reopening on Tuesday, April 25.

When it reopens, the cafe will have new, longer, opening hours.
