Several areas of Worcestershire have been named among the best places to live in the UK.

Malvern came out on top in the Muddy Stilettos list beating Worcester, Droitwich Spa and seven other places in the county.

Most counties in England feature in the awards with 250 best places to live featured in the list.

Members of the public voted for their favourite places and the results have been revealed.

Voters will need to wait until Tuesday, March 28 to find out the national winner though.

What did Muddy Stilettos have to say about Malvern?

In the list, Malvern was praised for its scenery, culture and events.

The Muddy Stilettos website says: “Hugged by some of the most stunning scenery in the South West, this picturesque spa town is the gateway to the Malvern Hills – a nine mile stretch of AONB land that rises from the surrounding meadows (locals call them the Midlands Alps).

“Hugely popular in Victorian times for its medicinal waters (more on its natural springs later) you’ll find scores of gorgeous period villas to snap up too.

“There’s a reason guide books gush about Malvern – it’s a gorgeous place to live, plus there’s a dynamic cultural scene with renowned theatres and year-round events, from the RHS Malvern Festival in May, to the Royal Three Counties Show.”

The town is also praised for its places to eat, shops and nearby attractions including riverside walks and local countryside.

What are average house prices like in Malvern?

Muddy Stilettos describes average property prices in Malvern as “still relatively low”.

It said: “Properties in Malvern had an overall average price of £323,083 over the last year.

“The majority of sales in Malvern during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £455,691. Flats sold for an average of £213,417, with semi-detached properties fetching £273,585.

“Overall, sold prices in Malvern over the last year were 1% up on the previous year and 17% up on the 2018 peak of £276,453.”
