MARRIAGE and divorce stats for Malvern Hills have been published by the Office for National Statistics.

The figures have been published by the Office for National Statistics from the 2021 Census. 

The data consists of the proportion of people aged 16 and over in local authorities in England and Wales who are either married, divorced or were formerly in a civil partnership.

According to the data, 48.2 per cent of Malvern Hills over 16 population are married (approximately 32,380 people).

The data also shows that 8.8 per cent of the population over the age of 16 is divorced (approximately 5912 people).

According to the 2021 census data, Malvern Hills had a population of 79,500 in 2021, and 84.5 per cent of this were over the age of 16 (67,178)

This made the Malvern Hills the third least densely populated of the West Midlands' 30 local authority areas, with an area equivalent to around one football pitch per resident.

In comparison to Worcester, 43.9 per cent of Worcester's over 16 population is married (approximately 85,614 people), which is 82.4 per cent of population demographic.

The figures also show that 10.5 per cent of the over 16 population were either divorced or were formerly in a civil partnership (approximately 8989), which equates to just 9 per cent of the population demographic in Worcester.

As for Wychavon, 49.1 per cent of the population over the age of 16 are married (54,232).

The data also shows that 9.3 per cent of the population are divorced (10,289).

Out of all the data provided, Harrow had the highest population percentage of married people with 54.8%.

Norwich had the highest population percentage of divorced people at 12.8 per cent.

The data also shows that nearly four in 10 adults in England and Wales have never been married or been in a civil partnership, up from three in 10 at the start of the century.

The figure has risen steadily over recent decades, from 26.3 per cent in 1991 to 30.1 per cent in 2001 and 34.6 per cent in 2011, reaching 37.9 per cent on the day of the latest census, March 21 2021.
