A POPULAR Indian restaurant is here to stay - despite the appearance of a ‘for sale’ sign on the building.

The building that houses Cromwell’s Nepalese and Indian Cuisine in Powick has been put up for sale by its landlords - and the restaurant’s owners are currently in the process of buying it.

Ashish Panthi, who owns Cromwell’s, said: “The landlords decided they wanted to sell the building and we have agreed a deal to buy it - it’s just about completing all the paperwork now.

“We are going to be here for the long term.

"We’re doing really well at the moment and getting a lot of support from our regular customers.”

Mr Panthi said Cromwell’s has a busy couple of months ahead with a lot of corporate bookings and Christmas parties being held at the restaurant.

Cromwell's taking booking for Christmas Day

It has also started taking bookings for Christmas Day, when it will be serving both traditional English Christmas dinners and a special menu of Nepalese cuisine.

Earlier this month, we asked Worcester News readers to tell us their favourite curry houses in and around the city to celebrate National Curry Week - and several picked Cromwell's.

One enthusiastic reader said of the restaurant: "Food is brilliant. I had the royal tawa, which is right up there with some of the best curries I've ever had.

"All my curries will be from here in the future."

Cromwell's is highly-rated by users of Tripadvisor, too. It currently has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 420 reviews, with comments calling it the best Nepalese restaurant in the county and one of the best curry houses in Worcester.

It has also been given a 'good' rating by the inspectors of Worcestershire Regulatory Services. Following an inspection on December 8, 2021, they gave Cromwell's a four-star hygeine rating.
