PLANS have been unveiled which could see 25 new affordable homes built near Upton Upon Severn.

Hamelin Partnerships wants to build on land at Furrow Close, Holly Green, near Upton.

According to the developers, 100 per cent of the houses included in the plans would be classed as affordable housing, with the site to be a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom homes ranging from maisonettes to semi-detached houses.

If approved, a new internal road and surrounding infrastructure would also be included.

Planning documents state: "The development will make a positive contribution towards the council's five-year housing land supply and provide much needed affordable housing.

"There are also a range of significant benefits associated with the scheme that further support the grant of planning permission, as detailed in this statement."

The site is an overgrown field of approximately 0.75 hectares near Ryall.

It is largely free of natural features, surrounded mainly by mature hedgerows mixed in with fencing in variable condition.

There is a cluster of mature trees located on the southernmost tip of the site, with the majority sitting just outside the application boundary.

To the west the site borders an existing housing development.

It is surrounded by active agricultural land to the north and east, with a second field to the south.

The site has an existing gated entrance, accessed directly off Furrow Close via a dropped kerb.

If approved, eight of the 25 homes would be on a shared-equity ownership with the remaining 17 being available for affordable rent.

Visually, planning documents state the houses would be similar in appearance to the existing houses in Furrow Close.

The plans were submitted to Malvern Hills District Council on August 23 and are currently open for consultation.

This runs until September 30 this year.
