A GROUP of men who came under fire for wearing women's clothing while fundraising are back again supporting a new cause.

Mark Tomlinson and his friends have been raising money for St Richard's Hospice for the last 18 years, by taking part in a "Leo Sayer All Dayer" pub crawl and wearing women's clothing from the charity shop.

The charity decided to not promote the cause last year due to the clothing being potentially offensive to the LGBTQ+ community.

This year, they will return but are raising funds for a new charity - the Nathan Tomkins Trust.

Mr Tomlinson said: "We had been doing this for years as a group as the charity was extremely close to our hearts, but it all of a sudden became an issue last year.

"It was never about the clothing for us, we just wanted to do something good for a good cause and look a bit outrageous as we do.

"We have selected a new charity for our 19th year which is equally as important to us and are looking forward to raising money for another great cause."

The Nathan Tomkins Trust supports mental health awareness in young people across Worcestershire and the Three Counties.

The group will be continuing the pub crawl event on Friday, August 5 alongside a party at The Swan Hotel which is open to anyone.

Nathan died by suicide in 2016 at the age of 22, and the charity was set up by his friends and family to raise money in Nathan’s name for local groups and charities.

Mr Tomlinson said: "Nathan was a colleague of ours from the rugby club and was a fantastic person.

"Every year, the charity holds an event called NathRox which is a black-tie ball that raises vital funds. We decided to call our event Nath Frox, as we will still be there in our Frocks on the day.

"The charity does amazing work. Mental health does not discriminate and can affect any person of any background.

"We are very proud to be supporting this cause. Anyone can turn up to the event and you do not have to wear women's clothing.

"We recommend heading to a charity shop and getting anything silly to join in the fun."
