EXCITEMENT is building in Malvern as one of the most popular summer events in the region is about to start.

The Royal Three Counties Show, held at the Three Counties Showground, opens to visitors on Friday, June 17.

2022 marks the 100th year that the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire have come together to bring the regional agricultural event to the area.

It runs from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 June and includes special guests including Kaleb Cooper – farming’s newest star and agricultural comedian from Clarkson's Farm.

Also providing entertainment are the Red Devils parachute team, Bolddog Lings motorcycle stunt team, tractors, hounds, heavy horses and more in the main arena.

For animal lovers, there are up close and personal encounters with more than 6,000 animals including birds of prey, rabbits, alpacas, pigs, cows, sheep and horses.

There is plenty on, from carriage-driving to show jumping and pony shows to mounted police.

With six equine rings and over 290 classes, there is plenty of equine-entertainment for visitors to enjoy.

Adventure Avenue allows people to test their survival skills and learn more from the Police and the British Army via interactive displays and have-a-go moments.

Over in the Stihl Arena, there demonstrations of axes, hot-saws and chainsaws providing high-octane enterainment each day.

New to the show is the Food and Drink Festival, which is hosted by celebrity cook Mark Diacono and including Hereford's "meat boutique" the Beefy Boys and drink from Weston's Cider, Ludlow Gin and many more.

The Family trail weaves its way around the showground with hands-on experienes and plenty to see and do.

For this year, Herefordshire farmer Michael Blandford has been elected as president of the Three Counties Agricultural Society.

Mr Blandford was first elected to the Three Counties Council in 1981, serving as Vice President in 1986 and again in 2007.

He has enjoyed an illustrious voluntary career at Three Counties, having served as Chairman of Council from 2011 undertaking two terms of three years, during which time the Three Counties Show was awarded its Royal title.
