A CHARITY opera concert is coming to Worcester's Guildhall this month.

Kieran and Valery Sherlock are hosting the event, with all of the proceeds going to Valery's native Ukraine, to support the ongoing efforts after the Russian invasion.

Mr Sherlock said: "I work full time as a field Archaeologist and will be the bass-baritone for the event and my wife is an academy-trained operatic soprano from Ukraine.

"Luke Swatman is an amazing amateur tenor who works in Traffic management but has appeared on ‘The Voice UK’ in 2019, and Hannah Just has recently been studying Opera at Leeds Conservatoire.

"Also we want to reiterate that it is a cause very close to our hearts obviously with Valery coming from Ukraine.

"Her mother is still in the Ukraine and is refusing to leave. We are going to donate all the proceeds to the concert to orphaned children and young people there."

The group rehearsed for the event at the Guildhall on Sunday (June 12) in preparation for the approaching event.

Mr Sherlock said: " Whilst we were performing, Luke opened up all of the windows at the Guildhall and sang out onto the High Street.

"It was amazing to hear and also attracted the attention of lots of shoppers passing by who stopped to hear him perform.

"We are so incredibly excited for this event and we are hoping that lots of the community will also be interested."
