NEW jobs could be created in Malvern under plans to expand a town business park.

Applicant Hillrow Homes, from Herefordshire, wants to expand the Enigma Business Park in Chequers Close, building five new light industrial unit.

If approved, the plans could see dozens of new jobs created, with a new planning application having been submitted to Malvern Hills District Council.

Planners are seeking permission to build one new building on the site, which will contain the five new units.

It is not known yet how many jobs would be created under the move, but the plans state the new units would allow businesses to move in, bringing with and creating jobs in the process.

With the new building, 15 parking spaces would be included along with a new access to vehicles via Chequers Close.

The land it would sit on is currently undeveloped, surrounded by similar industrial buildings forming the rest of the business park.

In addition to these, there would be parking for bicycles and motorcycles provided.

The plan has already received the support of MHDC's Economic Development team.

Their response read: "This proposal to bring forward additional workspace is supported by the Economic Development Team as it will provide new premises for business growth and employment on an allocated employment site."

According to the planning statement attached to the application, the building would have brick outer walls and charcoal grey roller shutter doors as well as slate-grey roof tiles.

Each unit would contain an office, utility room and cloakroom.

The application, which can be viewed at plan.malvernhills.gov.uk/Planning/Display/M/22/00524/FUL - was submitted on May 25 and has a consultation end date of June 22.

It is not known yet when or if the plan will be discussed by the MHDC planning committee, with the next scheduled meeting on June 15 cancelled according to the council website.
