A SCHOOL in Malvern is asking for the public to vote for it in a competition to win a new piece of equipment.

Great Malvern Primary School entered a competition by A&S Landscape to win a brand new fabric canopy worth £15,000 for its site.

The school wants to win the canopy to provide a shaded area where children can enjoy learning and playing outside during the summer months.

In order to win the canopy, the school needs to collect the highest number of votes in the nationwide competition before voting closes on July 15 this year.

A school spokesperson said: "At Malvern Primary we encourage outdoor learning and play at every opportunity.

"Currently we have little natural shade or sheltered areas for the children to use on the days that require this and especially during the summer months when we have full sun all day.

"This would be a perfect addition to our playground and a place for the children to relax and enjoy the fresh air."

A&S Landscape was set up more than 40 years ago in Shrewsbury and provides canopies and shade sails.

It helps supply organisations including local authorities, builders, The FA, Team GB, leading restaurant chains, NHS Trusts and hundreds of colleges, academies and schools.
