POLICE closed off a busy road and put up a white tent due to a medical emergency.
An 81-year-old woman collapsed on Leigh Sinton Road, in Malvern, and it was claimed she was left waiting in the tent for two hours for an ambulance to arrive.
The woman was taken to hospital and neighbours said she is recovering from her injuries.
She collapsed near Sayers Avenue where police officers and a passer-by holding an umbrella to keep her dry waited with her until paramedics arrived.
The police were called at about 5.30 pm closing off the road.
Residents shared their concern for the elderly woman who is still recovering from her injuries at the hospital.
Neighbour Abigale Thompson, 18, said: "A lady parked up in front of our house and asked us to look after her car so she should look after an injured lady on the main road."
A spokesperson for West Merica Police said: "Around 5.30pm yesterday (Monday, May 23) police were called to a medical emergency after an 81-year-old woman collapsed in the road in Malvern.
"The incident took place on Leigh Sinton Road near Sayers Avenue.
"Officers stayed with the woman till an ambulance arrived and she was taken to hospital."
A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance said: “We were called at 5.01pm to reports of an incident on Leigh Sinton Road, Worcester.
"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival, crews found a woman. She was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries.
"She received treatment on scene and was conveyed to Worcester Royal Hospital for further treatment.”
