THOUSANDS of people visited the Three Counties Showground this weekend as one of the county's most popular events returned after Covid.

Around 100,000 people visited the RHS Malvern Spring Show, which was the first to be held since before the Covid pandemic.

Among the visitors was Melanie Meacham, who won tickets to the event.

She said she had an "amazing" time - thoroughly enjoying the show.

She said: "I won two tickets for the Malvern Spring Show through a Facebook competition set up by brownie company Chock shop.

"I was over the moon to receive the message to say I had won as it was also my son Arthur's 3rd birthday so it made it extra special.

"We had a lovely day and to top it off the Chock Shop gave us birthday brownies on them."

Also in attendance was the Worcester Ukulele Club.

Club member Beverly Abbs and her fellow musicians attended the show, playing songs by artists from around the world and raising money for charity.

She said: "It was a really good show with thousands of people there and we had really good attendances over all three days.

"We raised nearly £300 and are really grateful to everyone who donated.

"We played everything from Hi Ho Silver Lining to The Beatles and Sweet Caroline.

"People sang and danced when we played and we had a lot of fun playing for people in the sunshine."

The Ukulele Club was performing to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of a former member who died from the disease.

Jane Edwards, shows manager, said: "This was our first year back after a two-year break and we couldn’t have hoped for a better reception to our 35th anniversary festival.

"The team have introduced lots of super new features, alongside a wide selection of special guests and a range of stunning show and feature gardens.

"This year’s festival had a truly celebratory feel and our gardening and food experts kept visitors entertained and inspired with lots of take-home ideas and tips.

"The jewel in our crown is the new permanent Platinum Jubilee Garden and we were honoured to receive HRH The Princess Royal to plant the final tree in this stunning new space at the showground."
