CLASSIC car enthusiasts from around the world are calling in to Malvern's iconic Morgan factory tomorrow.

The rally, which is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, includes more than 40 classic cars and includes drivers from across Europe and even as far away as America.

Founder Dennis Greenslade launched the rally in 2005.

He hopes to reach his target of £1 million raised for Macmillan Cancer Support this year, with the last event of its kind.

He said: "I feel very privileged to have turned my love of motor cars, fascination with maps, and experience of international rallying into one of the toughest classic car tours in Europe.

"Both me and my late wife, Tricia, who died at 60 from oesophageal cancer felt it important to raise money for charity with the challenge.

"However, like so many entrants, over the years, the fundraising has become even more personal."

The rally, which combines driving older cars with the raising of funds for Macmillan, is not a race to the finish line but a celebration of classic cars and the bringing together of like-minded enthusiasts.

The winner of Cape to Cape, as the rally is known, is not the person who finishes first, it is the person who raises the most money for charity.

The group set off on their two-week 2,700-mile trip from Newquay on April 23 and will return via Cape Cornwall on the afternoon of May 7for a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Bedruthan Hotel and Spa.

Before this, the group will take a pitstop at the Morgan Motor Company in Malvern at 9.15am on May 6.

Ceris Bradley, fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: "The first event, Cape Cornwall to Cape Wrath, raised an amazing £32,000 and to date over £900,000 has been achieved.

"Sadly, the number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing every year and that means Macmillan’s support for people living with cancer is in more demand than ever.

"We cannot thank the entrants and Cape to Cape supporters enough."
