ONE of the county's most popular events returns this weekend.

The Upton Upon Severn Folk Festival kicks off on April 29 and sees hundreds of music and dance outfits descend on the town for a weekend of folk entertainment.

Running until May 2, the festival features concerts, ceilidhs, competitions, workshops, displays and a host of established names from the world of folk.

Venues throughout the town are taking part including the Star, the Rugby Club, The King's Head, Bar 7, the Memorial Hall, the Baptist Church and others.

On the Sunday of the festival, the procession will make its way through the town led by Ledbury Morris and supported by morris outfits from around the country.

The festival, which was set up more than 30 years ago, is returning to the town after a two-year break caused by the pandemic.

Motorists on the way to and from Upton this weekend are being warned of roadworks and possible closures causing delays.

The ongoing work at the junction of the A38 and A4104 means drivers could expect delays as revellers travel to the town.

Motorists have also been warned of certain road closures in the town centre.

Church Street, High Street, Old Street, Dunns Lane, Old Welland Road and Waterside are all expected to close during the festival.
