DRIVERS have been warned about a horse racing event taking place on the racecourse in the city centre today (Tuesday).

Worcestershire County Council reminded guests to "arrive in plenty of time" ahead of today's season opener at Worcester Racecourse.

Today's races mark the opening of the season, with 21 jump racing fixtures from April to October planned for 2022.

The gates open today at 2.50pm, with the first racing beginning later at 4.50pm.

Worcestershire County Council warned attendees to allow plenty of time for travel and parking if attending.

The last race is set to begin at 7.50pm.

The season opener is the only scheduled event for April, with a further three events approaching in May.

On Thursday, May 5, the racecourse is hosting a Spring Afternoon Racing event, followed by another on May 11.

Towards the end of the month, a Peaky Blinders themed race night is coming, with tickets available to purchase online.

The suitably named "Blinding 20's Race Night" will feature seven races.

Ladies Day also makes a return this June, featuring a performance from Boyzlife, consisting of founding members of two of the nation’s biggest bands, Brian McFadden (Westlife) and Keith Duffy (Boyzone).

June is also the month where 'Hold Back the River' singer, James Bay, is set to perform, as well as a family fun day event.

Tickets are available to purchase via the Worcester Racecourse website.
