A THEATRE in Malvern is inviting residents to a series of events to experience what it has to offer.

The Coach House Theatre is looking for new people to get involved with their local theatre, with a number of events running this year.

Kirsty Cubberly Lobb, artistic director at the theatre, said: "We are a not-for-profit performance space to hire and a community hub with lots of things on offer, we have no funding from the council and have to self-fund on most projects,  so we need publicity and bigger audiences.

"The Coach House Theatre has been open for business in Priory Car Park for over twenty years and it's time we made a bigger splash on the Malvern Arts scene.

"We are a local fully equipped theatre for local creatives and we wish to support that community reflecting what people want and need.

"Malvern is a creative place and the Coach House Theatre is an affordable, local, jewel of a theatre, with the latest technical equipment, a beautiful stage and an auditorium licensed to seat over 100 audience members."

On April 21, the theatre is opening its doors to the local arts community, so anyone with an interest in drama and arts is invited to drop in at the Grange Road site from 7.30pm.

In addition, the theatre has set up a new junior theatre company called Act Up, providing weekly after-school drama classes in three groups of up to 18 years-old.

The group offers the opportunity of performing at the theatre in front of friends and family.

There is also a summer course and production of Matilda.

The two-week course runs throughout the summer holidays and culminates in a performance at the Coach House.

For over-18s and adults, the Coach House Theatre co-operative encourages writers, acrots and directors to work together to create new productions.

Next year there is also a Shakespeare Festival with school competitions and an outreach programme for local schools to reintroduce live performances to schoolchildren who may have missed out during the pandemic.
