DEVELOPERS hoping to build new homes near Malvern have apologised after a leaflet sent to residents spelt the village's name wrong.

Brandon Planning and Development wants to build homes on land just off the B4208 in Welland.

On behalf of the developers, urban design company nineteen47 sent out leaflets to residents of the village, but spelled the name of the village as "Wellend".

As a result, they have apologised to the people of Welland.

A statement on the nineteen47 said: "It has been brought to our attention that the village name has been spelt incorrectly on the leaflets distributed. For this we sincerely apologise."

It is not yet known how many homes would be built on the site, with a formal planning application expected to be submitted this month.

There are concerns over the location of the site, mainly due to its close proximity to the B4208 and Castlemorton Common.

The developers behind the plans have already begun seeking responses from residents, with a feedback form expected to form the basis of the eventual plans.

The site sits on around 3.4 hectares of agricultural land and lies on the Eastern side of the B4208.

Although the site is included in the South Worcestershire Development Plan, the developers said they could not say how many homes would be built there yet.

They said: "Given that very little weight can be given to the emerging SWDP Review, it is not possible to state how many houses will be allocated to Welland until the Review is finally adopted.

"As regard the concerns about landscape impact and biodiversity, these important considerations have been fully investigated and the scheme has been informed by the analysis which concludes that there will not be any unacceptable impact."
