PLANS have been submitted which could see 52 new homes built opposite a school between Malvern and Worcester.

Land Partnership Developments wants to build on land off the A4103 in Leigh Sinton.

If approved, there would be 52 new homes built just across from Leigh and Bransford Primary School.

In its plans, the developer said it has carried out a number of meetings with people in the village, with the local football team expected to benefit from new facilities included in the scheme.

The design and access statement attached to the plan said: "Contact with the Council has taken place on a number of occasions including representations as well as meetings to propose the site for allocation in the SWDP.

"Meetings have also taken place with the Parish Council.

"Community consultation has also taken place including an exhibition held in June 2017.

"Several meetings have been held with The Badgers FC.

"The football club will be one of the beneficiaries of the community sports facilities which this residential application can help to deliver."

Historically, the site was part of Moat Farm, with a 1904 map of the site showing the farmhouse and barns along with the moat, which still remains today.

The present day site map shows a significant amount of more recent development, mainly in the immediate post-war period.

The Moat Farm barns were removed in the mid 1980s when a small housing estate was built.

In 2006, approval was given for a existing care home which replaced Moat Farmhouse which itself was latterly used as a care home.

Additional development can also be seen expanding Leigh Sinton to the south along Kiln Lane.

The most recent example includes the recently constructed Cala Homes development at the southern end of Kiln Lane.

There have been a number of more recent plans for housing sites in Leigh Sinton.

Last August, villagers hit out at plans to build 24 "starter level" homes, also intended to be built off the A4103.

That application has not been decided on by Malvern Hills District Council yet and remains pending.
