WORK to improve the home of Malvern Town Football Club has been given a boost by a social housing provider.

Platform Housing Group has given the club £2,000 to be used for the Community Rooms project, which will see part of the club's home ground transformed into a new hub for the area.

When complete, the club will have a large modern kitchen, entrance hall and hireable multi-use rooms for people in the community.

These include club activities, teaching, yoga, sports training and to help tackle anti-social behaviour.

Platform is no stranger to Malvern Town, as it holds its Help Centre there every Thursday morning for the local community with the help of fusion job coach Matt White and digital transformation officer Tim Marsh, offering help with computers, registering for jobs, helping with CVs and more.

Platform Housing CEO Marion Duffy said: "We want as many local families as possible to benefit from our donations, and as part of our recent campaign that ran throughout December, we were able to donate over £27,000 to local community groups and charities up and down the country.

"This project is huge for Malvern and will be an important asset for many people once complete."

Chris Pinder, Malvern Town Football Club’s chairman, said: "Over 50 backers have got behind Phase One of Project 2022, which will see the space turned into multi-purpose rooms suitable for meetings and education, plus modern kitchen facilities to serve the local community.

"The hub is intended to be a base for planning operations to tackle anti-social behaviour and to divert young people into more positive activities; it will allow us to attract a much wider range of users by expanding the type of activities that we can host at the stadium. It will also enable us to plan and deliver education."

Platform offers customers, charities and groups fast and flexible support with cash to help cover the cost of food, essential items, energy and utility costs for individuals and families with its £1.4 million Wellbeing Fund and Community Chest.
