YOUNG people can now apply for up to £500 to fund projects that will benefit communities within the Malvern Hills district.

The Youth Chair Fund, delivered by Malvern Hills District Council, is offering to fund upcoming projects designed by the district’s young people aged between 11 to 17, the deadline to apply is March 4.

The fund will help support a ventures including short-term projects, celebrations, trips and equipment.

Local projects to already benefit include Perfect Circle Youth Theatre group, which created a short film based on their ideas and projects, teaching them how to film and edit, and Upton Young Farmers, who received funding to support a new members' day.

In addition, Tenbury High Ormiston Academy used the fund for its Time to Talk cabin, which provides a safe space for students to talk about and seek support with their mental health and wellbeing.

Cllr Tom Wells, portfolio holder for community services, said: "The fund is such a good opportunity for young people, it enables them to have a say in focused projects that are delivered in the district.

"We already have some great success stories that have come from the Youth Chair Fund and we look forward to seeing what other valuable projects will arise."
