PEOPLE reported being able to hear a loud aircraft flying in the skies above Malvern last night (Tuesday).

Confused residents were woken up as the aircraft noisily flew over the city at about 6pm last night.

However, because of the dark skies, it was difficult for people to tell exactly what aircraft it was.

FlightRadar24 shows it was a CV-22B Osprey flying above the town.

It was followed by a Chinnock at around 7.30pm.

The Osprey is registered in America and belongs to the US Air Force.

However, the flight path remains a mystery with the tracker not revealing where the aircraft took off or was due to land.

The Osprey is the world's first production tiltrotor aircraft which is able to carry out both a vertical takeoff and landing as well as short takeoff and landing capabilities.

Its design is meant to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft.

Ospreys can carry 24 troops at a speed of 360mph with around eight hours of flying time –enough to travel comfortably around the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.
