CHURCHES in and around Malvern are joining together this month for a week of prayer.

Malvern Churches Together, a group of churches aimed at bringing worshippers together throughout the district, is praying for Christian unity.

Because of the pandemic, this year's week of prayer is taking place via Zoom, with worshippers able to log on and join in from January 18 to January 25 at 7pm each evening with the exception of Sunday, January 23.

There will also be a united church service at Malvern Evangelical Church on the 23rd at 4.00 which will be led by Rev Nigel Coke-Woods, Rev. Becky Elliot and Pastor Trudi Smith.

The preacher will be Dr Leston Blackburn.

The theme this year is ‘We saw his star in the East’ and is based on worship and prayer in the Middle East.

Rev. Coke-Woods, chair of Malvern Churches Together, said: "Their history was, and still is, characterised by conflict.

"Christians of the Middle East are aware that the world shares many of its difficulties and that they too yearn for a light to lead the way out of the darkness.

"This will be the basis of our prayers over the whole of the week."
