CASES of coronavirus in Malvern are on the rise, latest data from Public Health England shows.

The data shows in the seven days up to December 23 - the most up to date data available - there was a rise of 34.4 per cent to 496 cases in Malvern Hills.

Malvern Link, which covers postcode WR14 including Worcester Road and Lower Howsell Road, was up 100 per cent to 36 cases.

North Malvern, which covers postcode WR14 including Old Hollow and Westward Road, was up 15.6 per cent to 52 cases.

Malvern Wells and Priory, which covers postcode WR14 including Hanley Road and Wells Road, saw a rise of 64.3 per cent to 44 cases.

Barnard's Green, which covers postcode WR14 including Longridge Road and Hall Green, saw a rise of 54.5 per cent to 34 cases.

Malvern Pickersleigh, which covers which covers postcode WR14 including Bawdsey Avenue and North End Lane, was up 43.5 per cent to 33 cases.

Colwall, Cradley and Wellington Heath, which covers postcodes WR14 to HR8 including Chockbury Lane and Bowley Lane, saw an increase of 106.2 per cent to 33 cases.

Colletts Green, Callow End and Hanley, which covers postcodes WR13 and WR2 including Picken End and Deblin's Green, was up 54.2 per cent to 37 cases.

Meanwhile Upton Upon Severn, Welland and Eldersfield, which covers postcodes WR13 and WR8 including Gloucester Road and Green Street, was down 15.8 per cent, to 32 cases.

The latest NHS figures show a total of 49 people were in hospital in Worcestershire with Covid-19 on Bank Holiday Monday, December 27, including two people in intensive care.

Environment Secretary George Eustice said on Tuesday (December 28) the evidence nationally on Covid cases and admissions did not support more interventions at the moment but the government would keep its decision not to impose further curbs in England under review.
