Malvern Hills District Council will issue fines for dog fouling.

The council are hoping to extend a Public Space Protection Order that will allow fixed penalty notices to be issued in hopes to tackle dog excrement that has not been dealt with by walkers.

The proposed PSPO could make it an offence to not pick up dog faeces when in control of a dog, failure to carry a disposal bag or means to clean up after a dog, failure to keep dogs on a lead in a designated area and failure to exclude dogs from fenced off or enclosed children's playgrounds

A consultation has been launched on Friday December 2, to gather responses on the newly proposed Dog Control Public Space Protection Order, and will run for six weeks, ending on January 13, 2022.

Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services at Malvern Hills District Council, Cllr Sarah Rouse, said: "We already have measures in place to crackdown on dog fouling in the district, but we want to hear responses from the public on whether they think the PSPO was effective or what could be done differently.

“If you are passionate about keeping the Malvern Hills District clean and encouraging people to pick up after their dogs, why not sign up to the Green Dog Walker Pledge.”
