A POPULAR Malvern Christmas initiative is returning in 2021.

Last year, Malvern Town Council launched its Festive Cheer Bag to help provide festive treats to families in need.

Working with Malvern Salvation Army, Morrisons and the Malvern Co-op supermarkets, the project encourages people to send in luxuries and festive goodies to help people.

These range from mince pies to christmas crackers, chocolates and family games.

These are then bagged up and distributed in the community.

Mayor of Malvern Cllr Nick Houghton said: "We recognise that Christmas can be difficult for many families in Malvern, and I am delighted that the Town Council can work with local organisations to spread a little Christmas Cheer to those who need it most.

"Many of us are lucky enough to have always enjoyed the festive treats that Christmas brings, but sadly many families have to go without them."

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to go to www.malverntowncouncil.org/event/festive-cheer-bags/ where people can donate any amount from £2.50 upwards.

Any surplus funds will be passed onto The Malvern Salvation Army.

The Town Council thanked Morrisons, Co-op and county councillors Jack Satterthwaite, Karen Hanks and Natalie McVey for their donations.
