POLICE teams in Malvern will be able to tackle crime in the saddle after securing a new e-bike.

Funded by the Malvern Hills AONB and Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion, the new bike will help the local safer neighbourhood teams to patrol the hills and reach hard to access areas more easily.

It is hoped the new e-bike will also increase visibility in the community.

Mr Campion said: "I have listened to the communities when they said they want to see their officers more visible within their community, and there is no doubt that this bike will help with that.

"I have also committed to reducing the carbon footprint from policing, and this is one way I am delivering on that commitment."

Paul Esrich, manager of the Malvern Hills AONB team said: "We want to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and responsible way.

"Our sustainable development fund supports projects which make a difference to the wildlife, heritage and communities of the Malvern Hills Area Of Natural Beauty and we’re really pleased that, along with the Police and Crime Commissioner, we are able to provide a grant towards an e-bike for our local police."
