IT has been another year in which Covid-19 has brought hardship and heartbreak to so many.

Nevertheless, we are asking you to set aside your troubles for a moment and think of others in great need in our part of the world.

The Hereford Times Christmas Appeal 2020, in partnership with the Herefordshire Community Foundation, is seeking to spread festive cheer to those who need it most.

We aim to raise £2,000 to pay for 70 food parcels.

They will be distributed by Hereford charity the Living Room to people needing a helping hand at this time of year.

The Living Room is a café, community larder and a safe community space in Commercial Road, Hereford.

It aims to make things better for people on low incomes, and those experiencing isolation or lacking in support or community connections.

HOW TO DONATE:

The food parcels your donations will pay for will contain a Christmas Day lunch for families, and a week's worth of food.

They will also contain some seasonal goodies, and where possible a small gift for children.

Parcels will be distributed through Living Room partners such as the women’s refuge, Herefordshire's 16+ team for care leavers, supported housing projects, and the homeless shelter.

Hereford Times:

Families the charity is already working with, or those who ask for support because they are having financial difficulties, will also be offered parcels.

Hereford Times editor John Wilson said: "I know many readers of the Hereford Times are facing difficulties of their own this year.

"But I also know that they care about others, and will do what they can to see that families in need will have sufficient food to celebrate Christmas.

"Please offer others a helping hand in this season of goodwill, and give what you can to our appeal.
