A CHURCH in Malvern where Sir Edward Elgar is buried is selling Christmas cards to help fund its restoration.

St Wulstan's in Little Malvern has had its work to restore three of its large stained-glass windows postponed in early 2020.

Now though, the church is ready to begin work with specialist cleaning to restore the windows, which were made between 1882 and 1892.

To help fund the work, the church is selling Christmas cards depicting festive scenes of the nativity and the annunciation.

Parishioner Charlotte Carver said: "During the pandemic many of us have seen less of our friends and family than we would wish, a situation that is likely to continue for some time to come.

"So this Christmas it’s more important than ever to make the effort to let them know they are in our thoughts.

"The exchange of Christmas cards is a time-honoured way to show how much we care, by sending a wave through the post, to let them know we are thinking of them to the extent that we’ve made the effort to keep in touch.

"So even if you only write a few words, your card will help to strengthen your relationships and bring you closer together."

Costing £4 for a pack of 10, these cards can be purchased online through the dedicated website www.christmascardsinaidofstwulstanschurch.com or via The Christmas Card Store on 01684 592179, every penny raised going towards this phase of the restoration work.

St Wulstan’s is the one remaining Benedictine parish in an area which once hosted communities of monks at Worcester, Great Malvern, Little Malvern, Pershore and Tewkesbury.

The church is part of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham's Worcester Deanery, and is run by the Benedictine monks of Belmont Abbey.
