RESIDENTS are being encouraged to lace up their running shoes and to get active with two new fitness programmes.

Launching on Monday, November 8 with Trail Running and November 16 with Wobble Board Workout, the new classes, provided by Malvern Hills District Council, aim to help improve people's health and wellbeing.

Trail Running costs £20 and is aimed at those who are comfortable to run non-stop for 40 minutes.

Taking place at The Wyche and British Camp, the six week course will take runners along scenic routes around the district and teach trail running techniques to help conquer hills and tackle technical uneven descents.

Wobble Board Workout is a new strength and balance workout using a wobble board and costs £4.50 pay as you go or £16 for four weeks.

Taking place at Upton Hill Centre, the four week course will help to improve balance, core and leg strength, and shoulder mobility.

Both programmes will be fully supported by MHDC's physical activity and wellbeing officer, Rachel Nicholls, who will provide support and advice throughout the sessions.

Cllr Tom Wells, portfolio holder for community services, said: “We are really looking forward to these exciting new classes starting.

"The programmes are tailored to people’s own level of ability so progress can be at individual paces.

"Health and wellbeing is so important and we hope people enjoy all the benefits the classes have to offer.”
