A REFURB of part of Malvern Town Football Club is underway.

To help with the work on the community rooms and kitchen, the club is crowdfunding to raise money.

This will go towards converting the old dressing-room block into a community hub with multipurpose rooms for meetings and teaching plus modern kitchen facilities.

Work has been ongoing for the last 18 months and the hub will be used as a base for planning operations to tackle anti-social behaviour and help young people spend their time in more positive activities.

The extra fundraising will allow the club to complete the remaining work in the kitchen, hallways and external look.

Club chairman Chris Pinder said: "We are extremely proud of the way in which our stadium has improved in recent years for the benefit of everyone.

"This additional funding support will allow us to take our offering to a much broader base of users, way beyond that of just football.

"Still to do is the kitchen fit-out and appliances plus external rendering, cladding and insulation.

"It is our intention that the hub will be in use on a daily basis, allowing us to host community group meetings and give us scope to offer various clubs and activities and learning opportunities for local people of all ages."

The renovation forms part of Project 2022, a series of improvements led by the club.

When finished, the community hub will include a larger kitchen with serving hatch, community rooms for various uses, a new entrance with "smartened-up" looks, improved energy efficiency and a new reception hall type entrance.
