RAILWAY fare dodgers have been fined for not buying a ticket before travelling from Malvern.

Arielson Oliver was found guilty in absence by the courts in September after he did not buy a ticket while travelling from Malvern Link on April 27 this year.

The 32 year-old, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern, was convicted by magistrates in Worcester after Great Western Railway brought the charge against him.

The charge states that Oliver, the defendant, not being in a designated compulsory ticket area, entered a train for the purpose of travelling without having a valid ticket entitling him to travel.

Oliver was fined £220 by the court as well as £6.10 in compensation and a £34 victim surcharge.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £180.

Another fare dodger convicted by the courts was Logan Richings.

The 19 year-old was also convicted in absence on September 10 having travelled from Great Malvern without paying his fare.

This relates to an offence from March 22 this year.

The charge, again brought forward by Great Western Railway, said he: "Travelled on a railway, namely Great Western Railway, without having previously paid your fare of £6-10 and with intent to avoid payment thereof."

Richings, of Mountbatten Road, Malvern, was also handed a £220 fine, as well as £6.10 compensation, a £34 victim surcharge and costs of £180.
