A KENNEL owner who wants to convert his site into new houses has put in THREE planning applications in his bid to push the plan through.
Les Childs, who runs Brookend Boarding Kennels and Cattery in Leigh Sinton, wants to retire and build two houses on the site.
Despite this, the 71 year-old said Malvern Hills District Council keeps rejecting his applications.
He said: "The council keeps saying they've not got enough brownfield sites for development - but it doesn't get much more brownfield than here.
"With my last application, they said it is outside the village boundary, but the sign for Leigh Sinton is right outside."
As a result, Mr Childs has now put in a number of different planning applications for the site.
These include building two new houses, another plan for three new houses and a third application for building two live-work units.
In the plan for two homes, it states: "Boughton Butler Ltd have been instructed by Mr Les Childs to resubmit in full a refused planning application for the conversion of the buildings at Brookend Kennels.
"It is considered that the refused application does not robustly address the proposals in relation to the enhancement of the site and regeneration of a brownfield site in a sustainable location.
"Furthermore, since the decision, the council has again been found to lack a framework-compliant housing land supply..."
Because of this, the application states, the plans should be allowed by the council after it lost its appeal against more than 100 homes in Rushwick.
In that case, the planning inspector ruled the council had not adequately showed it had a five year land supply.
The Brookend Kennels site is described in plans as a "fairly substantial" plot with the proposals including:
The removal of the existing 30-space car park, the removal of kennel and cattery buildings in the site's south-western corner, removal of hardstanding in the south-west corner and removal of an isolation kennel.
In addition, there will be a new heritage orchard, new native hedgerows, a ditch by the road to help with flood drainage, new trees planted and surviving buildings being retained for "domestic use".
