A MAN who stole a crate of lager and assaulted someone in Malvern has avoided jail.
Dylan Jess appeared before magistrates in Worcester on October 7, where he admitted the offences.
The 22 year-old, of Duke of Edinburgh Way, was charged with having stolen a box of lager worth £12 from the Morrisons at Malvern Retail Park on September 4 this year.
On the same day, he assaulted a man in the town.
After pleading guilty to both charges, Jess was handed a 12-month conditional discharge.
This means that his conviction will be spent if he commits no further offences within those 12 months.
If he commits another offence, he will be sentenced for that one, as well as the original offences.
Magistrates ordered Jess to pay £50 in compensation for the assault, as well as £135 in court costs and a £22 victim surcharge.
