Suzie Lane completed the first of three marathons this month after finishing the famous London run with a personal best time.

Lane, of Malvern Joggers, finished in 3:39:40 and she was over the moon with her performance.

"So gobsmacked and elated with my time of 3:39:40," she said.

"I was only hoping for 3 hours 50 but I would have been happy with a sub 4 hours - which I have never managed in London in my subsequent 3 attempts - so to get 20 minutes off my course personal best, I am beyond ecstatic.

"I could not have wished for better conditions. I just needed to have a serious talk with my legs around mile 19 and after that I was never, ever going to let anything stop me after all my hard work on the day and on the training beforehand."

Lane will compete in the Manchester Marathon next Sunday and Liverpool later to come in October.

Joggers' Jim Weadstone also took part, finishing in 5:00:49.

"I found it hard compared to last year, but still enjoyed it!"
