A FORMER racing yard near Malvern has undergone a transformation, turning it into a state of the art horse care facility.

The Tyre Hill Equestrian Site in Hanley Swan has become a specialist livery facility with more than two miles of all-weather gallops.

Also included are an all-year individual and herd turnout, 62 fully rubber-matted barn-style horse boxes with automatic water, swivel feeders and external windows.

There is also a Röwer and Rüb eight horse walker and one Claydon five horse walker, lunge pen with lights, hot and cold wash areas, rider refreshment area, an equine swimming pool, solarium, indoor trot ring, weigh bridge and brand new Martin Collins 60m x 30m Activ-Track arena complete with a full course of Jump 4 Joy jumps.

As well as part and full livery, the yard offers rehabilitation livery to cater for horses coming back into work following injury or time off as well as post intensive care and post traumatic injury.

With the equine swimming pool, treadmill, gallops, arena, and experienced staff, the yard is perfectly set up to meet the needs of recuperating equines including those on box rest, requiring post surgery care and wound management.

To officially celebrate the opening of the new arena, the yard held an open day on August 15, giving access to local equestrians wishing to see the facilities in action.

The event included swimming demonstrations, show jumping and dressage clinics in the new arena, a hog roast and bucking bronco as well as farriery demonstrations and talks by a nutritionist and physiotherapist.

Yard manager Robyn Cherry said: “We are so pleased that we can finally offer our clients a fantastic surface in which to school and jump their horses alongside the other superb facilities here.

"We look forward to showing more potential liveries around and welcoming new horses to our stable.”
