RESIDENTS in a Malvern suburb are celebrating victory in an eight-year long battle for disabled access.
Pickersleigh Grove and Elmsley Grove residents have been campaigning for a number of years for step-free access to their garages.
Residents using walking frames and wheelchairs have had to walk around their building to get access to the garages.
Thanks to repeated calls from the residents themselves and ward councillors, Platform has finally set up the new ramp.
Cllr Paul Bennett, who gave support to the campaign, said: "I am delighted that these determined and lovely people have finally had this basic right of suitable access put in place.
"It is a disgrace that it has taken this long and I believe that a 'management change' had to happen before Platform finally did what it needed to do years ago.
"Unfortunately, some of the original residents have moved on or passed away during the campaign which makes this even more poignant.
"This must never happen again. I call on Platform to assess and provide proper access to all its 50,000 plus homes and amenities across the country."
