MALVERN'S pro-EU group is welcoming a special guest next month.

Andrew Adonis, Labour peer and chair of the European Movement has agreed to join Malvern For Europe for the evening, for their first live event since lockdown.

The talk with Q&A, beginning at 7.30pm with social to follow, takes place at The Cube, Albert Road North at 7pm on September 17.

A spokesman said: "Against a backdrop this week of food shortages & failing distribution - 90,000 lorry drivers short in the UK - staff shortages in the agricultural sector, delayed student visas for study in Spain, creative exchanges at a standstill and the clanging shut of doors after our exit from the EU, Boris and Dom’s Brexit proponents are busy burning the oven-ready Christmas pud of promises to a sad cinder.

"Malvern For Europe continues to support our re-joining our nearest and biggest trading partner, the EU.

"This is our future and it’s where our next generation wants to work, study, research, create, travel, make friends and, yes, trade again.

"Trust Labour peer Lord Adonis to rove far beyond the politics of poultry to the wider impacts of a post-Brexit Britain when he visits Malvern and speaks and takes questions at Malvern for Europe’s first public event since lockdown.

"All welcome. Due to Covid, the Cube is limiting the attendance to 80 and booking is essential via malvernforeurope@raggedstone.net The event will also be live streamed."
